THE PERFECT PET FRIENDLY HOLIDAY
Nature walks, dog beaches, wide open spaces and of course, fresh air! The Great Ocean Road is the ideal pet friendly holiday destination. What’s more, the Surf Coast is a very pet friendly area.
Whether you are bringing a pet or not, please know that we are proud of the cleanliness of our cottages. So when you arrive, you won’t even know whether there was a pet staying before you or not.
OUR PET FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION
Bring your furry friend for just $30 per stay, with a maximum of 2 pets per cottage. We do not charge for assistance animals, but please let us know if they are part of your booking. Pets are welcome inside of course, we just ask that they are not left unsupervised and that they don’t enter the bedrooms or go on the couches.
There is no fence around the dam or the cottages themselves, and we have a farming style fence around the property, which won't keep pets in. So, if your pet tends to roam, there are plenty of trees around each cottage that you could tie up your dog while outside if that suits.
Dog Beaches
Along the Surf Coast there are so many beaches, and so many of them are dog friendly. Many have time-share zones, where dogs are allowed between specific times, and other beaches are off-leash areas. For the most up-to-date information, see the Surf Coast Shire website. There is also information from the council about dog beaches in the compendium inside each cottage.
surf coast walk
This world-class, 44-kilometre multi-use trail is located at the start of the Great Ocean Road region from Torquay to Aireys Inlet.
Dogs and cyclists are welcome along many of the sections of the walk, but dogs must be on a leash. The Surf Coast Shire Council has more information about dogs on this walk.
The Ironbark Basin section is closest section to Bells Beach Cottages, and is only 10 minutes walk from our door along Addiscott Road. Trail access is from the end of Peregrine Close, and the breathtaking clifftop views at Bells Beach are only another 45 minutes walk from there!
dog friendly cafes and eateries
This is not an exhaustive list, but it will certainly get you started!
Salty Dog Cafe in Torquay is on Fisherman’s Beach next to Torquay Angling club near the boat ramp, and serve breakfast and lunches all with a view to the beach.
Along The Esplanade in Torquay are surf-themed restaurant Bomboras, and Doc Hughes which is a modern Australian restaurant. Dogs are well catered for at both with large outside dining areas at the front with shade umbrellas and both venues open in the morning for coffees and breakfast as well. They are also just across the road from picturesque Torquay Front Beach, where dogs are allowed off-leash at set times (see above).
In the same area is Fisho’s Torquay, serving fresh, locally sourced, sustainable seafood for take away or for a casual dine-in option on their outdoor tables. They are also licensed and have a small sand pit for the kids!
If you are day-tripping along the Great Ocean Road with your furry friend, the Aireys Pub at Aireys Inlet is also a great option. It has plenty of shaded outdoor tables, an outdoor play area for the kids, a large lawn to throw a ball, and of course great food! For beer lovers, it is also home to fantastic local brewery, Salt Brewing Co.
